Strategic Determinants of Ict Adoption In Smes: A Bibliometric Analysis From The Perspective of Innovation Management
This study analyzes the evolution of scientific output on the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the perspective of innovation management. Using a bibliometric and scientometrics approach, 397 articles indexed in Web of Science and Scopus between 1999 and 2025 were examined, applying laws such as those of Price, Lotka, Zipf, Bradford, and Hirsch. The findings reveal sustained growth in academic interest in the topic, with thematic clusters focused on innovation, competitiveness, and organizational transformation. Internal and external barriers limiting the effective adoption of ICT were identified, along with low scientific collaboration among authors and countries. The study highlights theoretical gaps and advocates for the development of more integrative and context-sensitive models, particularly in emerging economies. The conclusions underscore the need to strengthen the alignment between organizational capabilities, public policies, and digital strategies to enhance the sustainability of SMEs in dynamic environments.
