Evaluating Togaf and E2a Frameworks: A Quantitative Study of Enterprise Architecture Effectiveness
Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks play a vital role in aligning business and IT strategies, particularly in medium-sized organizations where scalability and agility are essential. Despite the widespread adoption of TOGAF and the emerging relevance of E2A, limited empirical evidence exists comparing their practical effectiveness. This study evaluates and contrasts the TOGAF and E2A frameworks based on survey responses from 84 certified EA professionals across 23 countries. Using a quantitative research approach and independent samples t-tests, the findings reveal that while neither framework demonstrated statistically significant superiority, each presents unique strengths across five EA maturity dimensions: governance and management, methodology and framework, integration and alignment, benefits and outcomes, and agility. The study provides actionable insights for practitioners and lays the foundation for future research toward hybrid or adaptive EA models.
