Ar Communication Software For Children With Autism

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by impairments in social communication, interpersonal interaction, and socio-emotional processing. These difficulties pose a significant challenge to the development of function-al communication and autonomy for individuals with ASD. Although conventional assis-tive technologies based on two-dimensional interfaces exist, these present limitations are associated with low immersion, poor spatial contextualization, and rigid interaction, which can reduce their therapeutic effectiveness. This article presents the architectural design and technical implementation of an assistive communication prototype based on Augmented Reality (AR), developed for the Meta Quest 3s device, with the aim of sup-porting therapeutic processes in individuals with ASD. The standalone application em-ploys spatial computing principles to offer three therapeutic modules: Object Identifica-tion, Sentence Builder, and Emotion Explorer, designed to strengthen semantic associa-tion, language structuring, and emotional recognition in immersive environments. The system architecture incorporates an embedded SQLite database, enabling secure, local storage of interaction data, including response times and behavioral selections, and ensur-ing offline operation. Additionally, a data extraction pipeline in JSON format was imple-mented, integrated with a XAMPP-based web dashboard. This facilitates the visualization of session metrics and longitudinal analysis of user behavior for healthcare professionals. This work represents the initial phase of a research and development project, the ultimate goal of which is to validate the system through its implementation with real patients in clinical and educational settings, establishing a solid technological foundation for future AR-assisted interventions for individuals with ASD.
