Artificial Intelligence In Poultry Production: A Thematic Analysis of Technological Transformation, Automation and Sustainability
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a fundamental resource for modernizing and optimizing poultry production, especially in farms dedicated to laying and egg management. The results of the thematic analysis show that its application not only improves performance prediction but also strengthens critical processes such as reproduction, feeding, and sanitary control—elements identified as essential in the reviewed studies. This thematic study explores the main contributions of AI to the poultry sector through the analysis of approaches related to performance prediction, animal welfare monitoring, process automation, and production effi-ciency. Through a thematic analysis developed with VOSviewer, emerging trends, relevant authors, and recurrent concepts are identified regarding the use of machine learning algorithms, computer vision, and intelligent systems applied to egg production. The findings show that AI drives a significant transformation in the poultry industry through comprehensive automation supported by environ-mental sensors, which allow real-time adjustments of conditions such as tempera-ture, light, and humidity. Likewise, the advancement of hybrid models integrating deep learning with intelligent environmental control is highlighted, optimizing feeding, enabling early disease detection, and improving reproductive planning. Taken together, AI promotes more precise, sustainable, and data-driven practices, establishing itself as a technological pillar for the optimization of poultry produc-tion processes.
