Understanding User Adoption of Ai-Powered Augmented Reality Tools For Interior Design: The Mediating Roles of Cognitive Absorption and Ai Trust
This paper examines users' adoption of AI-based augmented reality (AR) interior design technologies through a two-pathway model that integrates the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Cognitive Absorption Theory. The data from the cross-national survey in China, Pakistan, and Finland were subjected to cross-national survey PLS-SEM analysis. Results indicate that the intention to behave is facilitated by perceived ease of use through cognitive absorption, and that intention is facilitated by technology readiness through AI trust. Cognitive absorption and AI trust are both important intermediaries. There is an unexpected positive correlation between perceived risk and AI trust, which implies a risk-awareness compensation effect. The results offer both theoretical and practical implications on how to design immersive AI-AR systems that can promote users to engage and trust them.
