Photography As A Tool For Political Education From The Perspectives of Peruvian University Students

This study aims to investigate the perception of young university students on the role of journalistic photography using smartphones as a means of memory and expression on Instagram, during the social mobilizations after the vacancy of Martin Vizcarra and assumption of office by Manuel Merino, held in November 2020. Because it is important to analyze how photography becomes a powerful tool to raise awareness among the population about what happened during the mobilizations after the political events that took place in the country. An interpre-tative paradigm was used to learn the perspectives of each interviewee about a specific context. The qualitative methodology was applied with an ethnographic design; 16 semi-structured interviews were conducted online with university stu-dents of communications and law. From this, findings such as accessibility, free expression, contextualization, awareness, emotions, accessibility, documenting, among others, were identified.
