Smart Wearables In Healthcare: Enhancing Patient Care Through Connectivity

Medication non-adherence can result in worsened health conditions, longer recovery times, or withdrawal symptoms, or in the worst condition, leading to death. Adherence is essential for effective treatment for a healthier and an extended life. Several solutions have been developed lately to address these problems, by lowering the factors that lead to non-adherence. By incorporating Bluetooth technology into a wearable device that connects to a smart medication dispenser and a mobile application, this project discusses how the use of this wearable application can increase the medication adherence. This application offers a real-time alarm system of the medication intakes, and synchronizes with the mobile application via Bluetooth Low Energy. These approaches may improve diagnosis, increase the efficacy of treatment, and ultimately lead to better patient outcomes—possibly even saving lives.
