Generative Artificial Intelligence (chatgpt) Use and Thesis Project Quality In Graduate Systems Engineering Students At Umssm, 2025
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the use of generative artificial intelligence (ChatGPT) and the quality of thesis projects among graduate students in Systems Engineering at the National University of San Marcos during 2025. A quantitative, descriptive, correlational, non-experimental, cross-sectional design was used with a census sample of 60 students. A Likert-type questionnaire was applied to measure technical use, prompt formulation, information verification, and ethical use of ChatGPT, together with a rubric to assess thesis project quality in terms of problem formulation, methodological coherence, and theoretical soundness. Results showed high and very high Spearman correlations between the dimensions studied and thesis quality (ρ between 0.843 and 0.929; p < 0.01). The findings suggest that ChatGPT can be associated with better structured thesis projects when it is used thoughtfully, with critical verification of information and respect for academic integrity
