A Smart Environmental Monitoring System Using Lorawan and Mobile Technologies
Precision agriculture increasingly relies on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to monitor environmental conditions and optimize agricultural processes. This paper presents the design and implementation of a LoRaWAN-based system for monitoring environmental sensors in agricultural environments. The proposed solution integrates sensor nodes based on Arduino-class micro-controllers with LoRa communication modules, The Things Network (TTN) infrastructure for data transmission, and an Android mobile application for real-time visualization and notifications. The system collects environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, and luminosity. Field experiments conducted in Mirandela, Portugal demonstrate reliable data transmission, low-latency updates, and effective alert mechanisms. The results indicate that the architecture provides a practical and scalable solution for small and medium-scale agricultural monitoring systems.
